Kathleen Nitschke Guest Speaker at Annual Title Insurance Seminar

On November 17, 2014, Kathleen Nitschke spoke on the topic of Ethics for Title Agents and Attorneys at the Old Republic National Title Insurance Company Agent Seminar.  The full day seminar was held in Columbus, Ohio and had over 200 attendees, including attorneys and title agents.

On November 13, 2014, Kathleen Nitschke spoke on the topic of Residential Litigation: Common Claims and How to Avoid Them.  The presentation was part of the annual Real Estate Law Institute hosted by the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association and was attended by real estate professionals throughout the area.

On November 20, 2014 President Obama announced a series of executive actions dealing with our nation’s immigration system.  The initiatives include deferred action for certain individuals, revised enforcement priorities, changes to the employment-based immigration, immigrant investor, and naturalization processes.  Melissa Laubenthal will present a “know your rights” informational session on December 14 in conjunction with the Central Ohio Worker Center, where she’ll explain these immigration law changes.

GK Receives Unanimous Jury Verdict

G&K is pleased to announce that it received a unanimous jury verdict in the Southern District of Ohio.  After an eight day trial, the trial team of Joseph Baker and Kathleen Nitschke successfully received a jury verdict in excess of $400,000 against a trailer manufacturer for breach of contract and warranties.

GK Obtains Summary Judgment

Kerin Lyn Kaminski and Donald C. Bulea recently obtained a summary judgment in favor of defendant of defendant hospital on claims for disability discrimination and retaliation in violation of R.C. 4112.02(A) and the Americans with Disabilities Act.  The Northern District of Ohio held that there was no genuine issue of material fact that defendant of defendant hospital acted lawfully in terminating Plaintiff’s employment for failing to follow the instructions of her supervisors and that the Plaintiff “wholly failed” to put forth any evidence of discrimination or retaliation.  As such, the Court granted judgment in favor of defendant of defendant hospital as a matter of law on all of the Plaintiff’s claims.
