Cleveland, Ohio, August 18, 2016 — Giffen & Kaminski, LLC is pleased to announce winning a summary judgment for its clients the Cleveland State University and the Dean of Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.
In the matter of Jean Lifter v. Cleveland State University, et al., Judge Patricia A. Gaughan found for the University and the Dean and against former Assistant Dean Lifter and law professor Sheldon Gelman who claimed the Dean had retaliated against them due to Professor Gelman’s involvement in forming a union.
Represented by attorneys Karen Giffen and Donald Bulea, the Dean was found to have provided positive benefits to faculty members involved in the union-organizing campaign, including Professor Gelman.
Judge Gaughan found that Lifter’s position was eliminated as part of budget cuts required due to a decline in enrollment.
“Karen and Doni developed the facts, presented the law and prevailed for our client. I am proud to practice with both of these excellent attorneys and am especially pleased with this outcome for our client,” said Co-Founder, Kerin Kaminski.
